Malibu Country Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Malibu, California, only 45 minutes from downtown Los Angeles.
Malibu Country Club opened in 1980. The course was designed by William F. Bell.
Evoking the nostalgia of golf courses built at the turn of the 20th century, the Malibu Country Club sits secluded in the majestic, rolling hills of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,614 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,613 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 482 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 15, a par-3 that plays to 161 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 468 yard par-5 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Malibu Country Club is # 11, a 367 yard par-4.
Malibu Country Club closed in 2015
The Chinese investment firm, Shinhan Golden Faith International Development, paid $30.5 million for the closed course in an all-cash deal that closed August 2016.
The 650-acre site in the Santa Monica Mountains was put in receivership after its previous owner, Malibu Associates, defaulted on its $47-million loan from U.S. Bank. Malibu Associates was founded in 2005 by Dick Fuld, the former head of Lehman Bros.

Beautiful setting but the course looks pretty shabby for some reason. I didn't think it was just because it is winter. The overall maintenance seems to have suffered. It was a 50% bargain during the holiday but would have been much more disappointing had we paid full price.

Love this course but I am biased because it's only about 15 miles from home. Always challenging, friendly staff and a unique houseless setting.

I got a special mid Masters week rate but I have played there many times at $100 a round and felt it was worth it! I love the lack of crowds and the lack of houses on the course.

Great course but must improve condition of cart paths.also, it's the only nice course that I've ever played where the restaurant is not open for early tee times.

Malibu Golf Club is outstanding, the greens are PGA quality, the fairways are great, the layout is very challenging, the course has been built in a Giant Golf Amphitheatre, it's fantastic. The bar and restaurant are incredible, The new menu is Killer. The wine meadow thats North of the Clubhouse is operated by Semler/Malibu Family wines, is an Amazing setting. Great landscaping and superb Wines and expert service. The GPS in the carts is the best I've ever seen, the BBQ at the turn is fantastic, but the food in the clubhouse is better than anywhere, and the Bartender is a 10. The cart path need a little attention, and one or two of the sandtraps need some mnore sand.

I had a discounted rate of $50 purchased through Living Social Deals. If I had paid the regular weekend rate of $100 I would have been disappointed. There are plenty of "canyon" type courses in the area with better services and better prices. I would only return at the same lower rate.

The course is well maintained. Greens condition is superb. Tournament director is personal, pleasant and helpful. Marshall on course to locate blind tee shots is helpful.

Bar and food service is the worst! one person with too much attitude and poor service skills.
Pro shop and course staff were very good. management needs to take a close look at the bar/dinning area.

The main drawback of this course is the absence of a driving range. There is a hitting cage area the is very poorly kept. The mats and balls and the whole setting is low grade.

I have played this course several times. I enjoy the setting, it is like a private course, not public. They have the wine bar that has live music on the weekend with lots of pretty ladies! I know the project just got approved for a complete renovation so the condition today is not perfect. I have seen the plans for the new The new project and it is going to be incredible, complete with overnight accomodations. It will be one fo the best locations in Southern California for a retreat in the future. Still worth playing today!!
